October Cedar Point Trip #2

On my second trip to Cedar Point, I finally convinced one of my friends to go with me.  Having disgraced myself the last time I went to Cedar Pointe with friends (in high school) by only riding the tamest of roller coasters and the bumper cars, I was determined to finally repair my damaged reputation.  We rode just about all of the roller coasters, except the Maverick, which was closed for repairs.  We also rode Max Air and Skyhawk, both of which involve swinging back and forth on a giant pendulum over a range of 230 degrees or so.  Max Air also spins around, to help dislodge anything stubbornly refusing to come up out of your stomach.  And I conquered the Wicked Twister, which had previously completely terrified me.  It’s just a big U-shaped track and you ride up the front of it, then fall backwards and ride backwards up the other side, then fall straight down and go forwards up the front again, and so on.

The other important part of the trip is that I was frustratingly unsuccessful at the games.  It took me way too many tries to win the easy Bank-a-Ball and I only won one ladder climb game once, despite many attempts on the other game.

I did, however receive a valuable tip from one of the operators, which proved useful later.  I will disclose it if you pay me $3.95 and promise not to buy that other guy’s book.  I also did not win the difficult Bank-a-Ball, despite spending the last of my money on it, returning to the car for my excess toll money, and spending that, too.  But the game operator recognized me from my last visit and was excited at how close I was to winning.  He said I was the closest to winning without actually winning of anyone he’d seen.  I promised I’d be back and he expressed optimism at my future chances of winning.

I won the Wacky Wire without much trouble.  Unfortunately, they had run out of giant frogs, so I had to take the backup prize, an official NFL football jersey.  There were a bunch of jerseys hanging up on display, which looked like they had been out there in the elements all summer long.  I don’t care about football and didn’t recognize most of the players, so I just took the jersey they had still in a plastic bag behind the counter.  It’s an Adrian Peterson jersey, which I guess is good.  And, like any free shirt giveaway, the only sizes available were XL.  Since I spend my time on the midway playing games rather than stuffing myself with funnel cake and cotton candy, XL is too large.  As I think I mentioned before, the ice cream diet is a proven weight loss technique, so that unfortunately didn’t help me with the sizing.  Also worth mentioning is that I had video documentation of me finally winning the wacky wire, but I accidentally deleted it because I am a technologically challenged idiot.
